Talking Trees Children's Trout Derby

Introduce your kids to a love of fishing at this free two-day event. On Friday, dive into excitement at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds for zip lines, attractions, and free fishing gear for eligible participants (children). Arrive at Oconaluftee Islands Park on Saturday for hours of fishing fun with prizes, celebrity guests, live animal exhibits, and more. Cherokee fishing permits are available for purchase for persons 12 and older at a variety of locations listed on FishCherokee.com or at the Cherokee Welcome Center. Tunes on the Tuck Free Concert - Grandpa's Music

Local musician "Grandpa" Larry Barnett is a moving force in the Bryson City scene as the organizer of the local music jams that take place every other Thursday at the library, not to mention the many bands he plays in.

HIke the Smokies: Overnight Hikes at Fontana Village
